PHARA Named a Best Workplace in Canada

PHARA is pleased to announce that they have been recognized on the Great Place to Work® 2024 list of Canada’s Best Workplaces in Government & Social Services. This award is determined by employee responses and input on the Trust Index Survey through Great Place to Work® methodology.

According to Canada’s Best Workplaces website: A great workplace is one where employees trust the people they work for, have pride in the work they do, and enjoy the people they work with.

“We have an amazing team at PHARA. It really is a family environment because everyone knows they can rely on each other, can rely on their leadership, and feel pride in what they do,” said Mike Van der Vlist, PHARA CEO. “Making the list is an honor for everyone at PHARA, and proves that we take the rights and respect for our staff seriously. Our team works hard, has passion for the care they provide, and know that they are making the lives of our clients better every single day.”

PHARA provides services in both official languages to people with disabilities as well as housing opportunities for those with low or moderate incomes.

“We are helping people in our communities live an independent life,” said Van der Vlist. “The value that our team sees in our mission of housing and independence is matched by the fact that we are a workplace of choice. People want to work here because they know that we will invest in their growth, their wellbeing, and their future.”

In addition to the best workplace success, PHARA has also received the Réseau’s Recognition Award for improving access and equity to French language health services.

“Our collaboration with Réseau is not only about improving heath equity for all, but it’s also about doing the right thing for our community,” said Matt Duquette, PHARA Board Chair. “Much like a rising tide lifts all boats, ensuring we deliver care in both French and English raises the quality of life for everyone.”

PHARA has ensured that in addition to services being available in both French and English, information literature including the website and social media is also available.
