Health Equity

As a Health Service Provider (HSP), PHARA plays an essential role in Ontario Health’s mission to drive improved and equitable health outcomes and its strategic priority to reduce health disparities. Part of our Human Resources Department, PHARA is committed to the advancement of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Racism.

PHARA strives to build capacity and knowledge across the organization, to ensure continued growth, development, and better outcomes for all.

In 2023-24 PHARA:

  • Introduced new policies and programs on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in the Workplace

  • Advanced our Diversity and Sensitivity Training

  • Became a member of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group

  • Provided in-services based on learnings from Lambton College’s Indigenous Community & Society program

  • Recognized the importance of, and provided information to employees on, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation among other initiatives

PHARA is grateful to the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit for the Health Equity Grant that supported this work. PHARA recognizes this work requires diligence and dedication in the years to come and is working to ensure we meet our requirements under its Service Accountability Agreement which is reflected in the organization’s Health Equity Plan for the coming year.
