PHARA Receives Great Place to Work ® Certification

As the Physically Handicapped Adults’ Rehabilitation Association (PHARA) celebrates their 50th year serving North Bay and surrounding communities, they are excited to announce that the organization has earned the prestigious Great Place to Work® Certification. This certification places PHARA amongst other well-respected organizations such as SONY, Royal Bank, and Deloitte who create an outstanding employee experience and an amazing workplace culture.

“For years we have worked hard to ensure that employees at PHARA have a workplace focused on delivering excellent company culture. The role of all of our staff who work in health care and housing can be challenging. That is why it’s critical our team knows they are respected, engaged, and have opportunities for growth,” said Matt Duquette, PHARA Board Chair. “These are not just idle words, but a part of our strategic approach to being an employer of choice.”

According to the certifying body, employees say Great Place To Work® Certification is a key deciding factor when choosing a new organization to apply to.

As well in a recent survey, 97% of clients report they are satisfied services are meeting their needs. This is the highest rating PHARA has achieved for this category and PHARA believes it is due to having built a great employee team and corporate culture.

“We are achieving top marks on our client survey because of our team. There is no other way to put it, our staff are listening to our clients, providing the best service, and delivering top quality care. I’m proud of each and every one of them,” said Mike Van der Vlist, PHARA CEO. “We are helping people in our communities live an independent life.”

Great Place To Work Certification recognizes employers who create an outstanding employee experience and an amazing workplace culture. In order to become certified, there is a two-step process that includes surveying employees and completing a questionnaire about an organizations work culture.

According to Great Place To Work website: Certification gives employers a recruiting advantage by providing a globally recognized and research-backed verification of great employee experience.

“We know there is a Health Human Resource shortage right across Canada, but I am happy to say that we have become an employer that candidates are actively seeking out. Word is spreading that we treat our employees with respect, advocate for them, and help them achieve their career goals,” said Nicole Yandernoll, PHARA Human Resources Manager. “We welcome new applications, at any time, from people with a wide variety of formal and lived experience.”
