PHARA Client Stories: Layla
“PHARA is an agency that helps people stay in their home and keep their independence.” - Layla
Layla’s involvement with PHARA started in the 1970s, when she was in her 20s, as a volunteer. She took part in numerous PHARA committees, eventually serving on the Board of Directors for 26 years where she held a variety of positions, including President. Layla has been an instrumental figure in the development of PHARA, and a shining example of the organization’s values, and has helped to expand services for individuals with physical disabilities. Today at 73, a few years removed from volunteering, Layla has been a client in receipt of PHARA’s Outreach Services for five years. The personal care, housekeeping, and laundry services she receives enable her to continue to live with comfort, safety, and dignity in her own home.
